Floyd Steele made his debut into the world on October 23, 1986 in Chicago, Illinois to the proud parents
Eunice Lee Simmons and Lillie Mae Steele and went home to be with his heavenly Father on July 6,
2021.
Celebrating the Spiritual one
Floyd wasn’t a member of one specific church, but he was a true servant. The value of having a
relationship with Jesus Christ was instilled in him at a very young age. That reflection was displayed in
the way he loved, served and encouraged others. He was selfless always thinking of others. He spent his
final birthday requesting the family come together on a cold, rainy day and feed the homeless as his gift.
Celebrating the Student
Floyd attended John Marshall H.S. on the westside of Chicago. He was known for dancing, basketball
and his comedic nature. He was very popular in school and long after graduating made it a point to be
involved in all things Commandos. He also went to culinary school and received certification in the food
service/management industry. He mimicked his mom’s love for cooking and found joy in cooking for
others.
Celebrating the Creative
Floyd, was born into a family of creatives. He was a beautiful surprise to his mom who hadn’t had a child
in 15 years. He wasn’t to be outdone by any of his older siblings. He became his own spotlight. Floyd was
extremely gifted, anything he put his hand to do he excelled in it. Dancer, thee best! MC (Hip Hop
Freestyle) thee best! Social Club Member, thee best! Basketball player, card player and cook maybe not
thee best, but Very Good!
Floyd was a proud member of Hoodrich Social Club, SYS University and other music associations.
His association to dance troops, community organizations and basketball, baseball, softball leagues are
vast.
Celebrating the Son, Father, Grandson, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, God-son and
Ultimate Friend
As a son, Floyd took this role serious. He was thoughtful in the way he conducted himself as he was a
reflection of his parents. He was indeed a protector and a mama’s boy. He always demonstrated his love
for his parents and was very concerned about their wellbeing. His desire was for them to never want or
need anything and he made sure they knew how much he loved and appreciated them.
As a grandson, Floyd was highly favored. He was named after his maternal grandfather and
was just as hardworking. His paternal grandmother affectionally called Ma was extremely proud
of the respectable and thoughtful young he was.
As a brother, Floyd was committed to family. He never wanted to let his siblings down. He
would switch around whatever he needed to assist his family. He was love in action and big on
quality time. He was a brother of joy and encouragement. He is simply irreplaceable.
Left to cherish his memories are his siblings Ronald Steele, Verna Agboola (Kazeem), Aqua
Robins (Mark), James Smith Steele (Irish), Terrell Jones, Sheila Morris (Donald), Elliott
Simmons (Jacqueline), Terrance McGary, Shenita McGary, Kawanna Brown, Darnisha Gant,
Kattie Thomas (Clinton); Valerie Jackson.
As a father, Floyd was tender and funny. He talked to his children as though they were little
adults and never took their feelings for granted. He was hands on showing up for school events,
dances and the best gamer partner you could ask for. He shared his love for music and rap with
his older two children including Lil Floyd in his creative expressions and Akyra with his vibe as a
MC.
Left to Cherish his memories are his children Floyd Steele, Jr., Kameron Bendenfield, Akyra
Owensby and Ti’Miyah Mills.
As an uncle, Floyd was a brother and best friend. He managed to have a special relationship
with all of his nieces and nephews making everyone feel like his favorite. He was the F in fun.
There are so many fun and loving Floyd stories. He made his mark and sealed it in the hearts of
all.
Floyd left a plethora of nieces, nephews to cherish his memories.

As a nephew, Floyd was beloved. He always listened intently to the advice of his elders,
showing the utmost love and respect. Special Acknowledgement to Lennette Hamlin aka Aunt
Penny who supported him in all his endeavors.
As a cousin, Floyd was the life of the party, a committed listener, a dream facilitator and one
guy that all could depend on. Floyd left a plethora of cousins to cherish his memories.
As A God-Son, Floyd treating them like they were his parents, displaying the love and affection
of a son born to them (A special Acknowledgement to his Godparents Valerie & Slim Space,
whom he loved dearly.
As a friend, Floyd was #fav #bestie #myboi #bff. He was loyal, encouraging and supportive in
every way. He showed up for the ups and down. Floyd had about 100 best friends, the family
couldn’t keep up. He was forever inserting new people into the family and he truly loved them
all.
