JAMES LUCIUS Obituary

James was born May 9, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois to the proud parents Fannie Mae Lucius-Zolicoffer, and
James Bernard Lucius, III, whom both preceded him in death. He was the third of five children, as his
sister, Lavonne, and brother Phillip both preceded him in death. James accepted Christ at an early age,
and received his spiritual upbringing in the church. Upon his death, James was a member of the
outreach Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Johnny L. Beckworth, where he sang in
the choir.
James attended Washington Irving Elementary School. He later went on to Near North High School, and
furthered his education at Thornwood High School in South Holland, IL. James was a jack of all trades, as
there weren’t many things he couldn’t do. He had a knack for manual labor and working with hands. If
you called James to fix something, all you had to do was have the tools on hand and he could get the job
done. No matter day or night, he was always willing to lend a helping hand.
James had the biggest heart to accompany such an outgoing personality, and he loved his family. He
was affectionately known as “Uncle Pap” to his nieces and nephews whom adored him, and as “Lucius”
or “Pap” to other family and friends. James enjoyed spending time at the movies, the park, and taking
long walks with his family, but skating was his specialty. He was always thrilled anytime he could get into
a pair of skates and hit the floor to show off his moves, as he was a true believer in living life and having
fun. He also believed education and perseverance was just as important, as he wanted to see his
children live the best life they could.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Fiancée’ Michelle Beckworth; (4) sons: Jamar Brooks (Tiara), Dijon
