Flora Mae (Perrin) Polk was born on December 13, 1933, in Tuscumbia, Alabama to the late Jesse Davis Perrin and Helen Marie Byrd who both preceded her in death. Her Aunt, the late Lular Perrin became her guardian after her mothers early death. She was the oldest and only surviving sibling of brother, James Roy Perry who preceded her in death.
Flora attended school in Alabama and migrated to Chicago in the 1950s seeking career advancement opportunities. She remained in Chicago until her death. She worked for various companies including Grayhill and Hines VA Hospital. Additionally, she served for several years as the private nanny and housekeeper to the owners of Waste Management, Inc.
Flora accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and she was an ordained Minister for many years. She retired from New Day Missionary Baptist Church as a Minister and Evangelist after serving there for several years.
Flora was indeed a spiritual advisor and confidant to many while here on earth. Her joy and influence will live in our hearts forever.
On Friday, October 16, 2020, Flora answered the call home to be with the Lord. She laid down her cross and quietly slept away.
