Richard Govan was born to Saloma and Tim Govan on June 23, 1963, in Chicago Illinois.
He attended Oakenwald South Elementary School and King High school. He later obtained his GED. He was Baptized at an early age at New Exodus Baptist Church. “Ricky” as he was affectionately called, was the life of the party. He would dance and battle whoever that he could. He loved to hang with his family and friends and didn’t take no mess. He resided in Indianapolis with his wife Carolyn and was known as “Slick Rick”. He worked for Carter Lee Lumber Company for many years.
Ricky touched the lives of everyone that came in his presence and will have an everlasting effect. His memory will never be forgotten, and he will remain in our hearts forever. His love for his family and close friends couldn't be matched and their love for him is undeniable.
Ricky is proceeded in death by his parents Saloma and Tim Govan, sister Daisy Dunn, bothers Nixon Galliday, Willie James Garner, Tim Govan Jr, Willis James Govan and Clifton Govan. Ricky leaves to cherish his memory his wife Carolyn Murphy Govan, 7 daughters Marketa Govan, Vanessa Govan, Tiffany Hollis, Narsheka Grady (Kenny), Niki Harris, Sharise Murphy and Latoya Murphy, 2 sons Christopher Fields and Michael Johnson, 22 grandkids, 4 sisters Diana Hughes, Stephanie Govan, Mary Haywood and Willie Mae Willis, 5 brothers Tommy Garner, Preston Govan, Earnest Govan, Berry Govan (Diane) and Albert Lee Govan, 10 sister in laws, 1 brother in law, 1 aunt Lula Cosby, 1 uncle Gene Kuykendall (Lola) and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
