William Earl Sawyer Jr. was born to the late Alice Mae Weaver and William Earl Sawyer Sr. on July 23, 1952. On Friday, February 6, 2026, Earl departed his earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and service to his family, friends and community.
Earl grew up in Chicago, where he attended Mason Elementary School and Farragut High School. Driven by a passion for understanding and helping others, he continued his education in college, studying psychiatry. Earl also pursued a trade in ceramics, displaying his creative talents alongside his academic achievements.
Earl accepted Christ at a early age and was a member of Grace memorial baptist church under the leadership of Reverend Marvin Hunter-Senior pastor.
Earl dedicated much of his life to working within the community. He was actively involved in organizations such as Cease Fire, and United States Minority Contractor { Conveners Program} striving to stop violence in neighborhoods throughout the city of Chicago. His commitment extended to counseling inner city youth, helping them face the challenges in their lives and encouraging them to recognize and develop their full potential. Earl’s guidance and support touched countless lives, fostering hope and resilience among those he served. Earl will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others. His work in violence prevention, youth counseling, and community advocacy leaves an enduring mark on Chicago and all those who had the privilege to know him. Earl’s kindness, wisdom, and dedication will continue to inspire generations to come.
