Aaliyah (Le-Le) Lashay Clark was born in Chicago Illinois at Mercy Hospital on January
31st, 1998, to Erica Riley and Eddie Clark. She attended Melody elementary for a few years but
eventually graduated from Samuel Gompers Elementary school. Aaliyah went on to attend
Carver Military Academy High School where she learned that she had a passion for helping
others. While attending Carver, she also enrolled and completed a nursing program. She earned
her (CNA) certified nursing assistant certification at the age of 16. She gained her first healthcare
employment at Warren Barr South Loop Nursing facility while completing high school. Aaliyah
graduated with her high school diploma in 2016. Aaliyah went on to work in the healthcare field
for eight years as well as pursuing a college degree. In 2018, Aaliyah joined Sigma Gamma Rho
Sorority Incorporated where she accomplished her goal of empowering others and gaining a new
sisterhood which showcase leadership, dignity, and grace.
Aaliyah graduated from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville with her bachelor’s
degree in Biology in December 2021. In hopes of continuing to attend medical school to become
a physician.
Aaliyah was an amazing, devoted mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, and
friend. Her smile was contagious. Aaliyah had a special gift, a gift of love and understanding.
She gave good advice and was our own personal therapist. Aaliyah embodied the true meaning
of loyalty and compassion. She was a funny, witty, and overall, a great person. On October 14th,
2022, Aaliyah was called home unexpectedly in St. Louis, Missouri where she resided.
She leaves to cherish her parents Erica Riley and Eddie Clark. Her daughters Zhuri Riley-
Anne McCloud and Sandy (her puppy) significant other Jarrett McCloud. Grandparents: David
Carter, Lucy Clark and one grandmother who proceeded her in death, Willie Pearl Riley. Three
sisters: LaKeelah Clark (Dante Sanders), Shaniyah Spears, Shamari Clark. Four brothers:
Vontrel Spears, Eddie Clark Jr., JaQuan Clark, Da’Prince Clark. Also, a niece who was dear to
her heart KaLeah Sky Sanders. She leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nephew, nieces,
cousins, sorors, and friends.
